What the notice should explain
Where HIPAA requires a Notice of Privacy Practices, it explains uses and disclosures of health information, relevant patient rights, and the provider’s privacy duties. It is separate from this website’s general privacy notice. Learn more from HHS guidance on Notices of Privacy Practices.
Before sharing health records
Do not upload or email medical records through a public contact or professional-referral form. The team must confirm the receiving provider, approved transfer method, and applicable privacy terms first. A website consent checkbox does not establish that a particular system is approved to receive protected health information.
